Hellas Verona were founded in 1903. Their best-known season is 1984–85, when they won Serie A under coach Osvaldo Bagnoli, four points ahead of Torino. It is the club's only league title.

The Bentegodi opened in 1963. It was rebuilt for the 1990 World Cup, when the stands were enlarged and every stand got a roof. For many years Verona shared it with Chievo.
An athletics track runs around the pitch, so even the front rows are some distance from the play.
The side stands along the pitch give you the best overview of the game.
