Arsenal Football Club was founded in 1886 by workers at the Royal Arsenal armaments factory in Woolwich, South London. The club started out as Dial Square, took the Arsenal name shortly afterwards, and moved north to Highbury in 1913, where it played for more than nine decades.

Arsenal has spent almost its entire history in the top tier of English football and is one of the most successful clubs in the country, with multiple league titles and FA Cups to its name. It has also been a regular presence in the UEFA Champions League and the Europa League.

The defining chapter of the modern era came in the 2003/04 season, when the squad went through the whole Premier League campaign unbeaten. That side is still known as the Invincibles. The years around it were shaped by Arsène Wenger, who managed the club for more than two decades, and by players such as Thierry Henry.

Since 2006 the home ground has been Emirates Stadium in Holloway, built on the site of the former Ashburton Grove industrial estate. It replaced Highbury, which had served as Arsenal's home from 1913 to 2006. The four main stands carry the naming tradition of the old ground: North Bank, Clock End, East Stand and West Stand.

The stadium seats 60,704 and uses a bowl-shaped design intended to give clear sightlines from every area. Lower tiers place you closer to the pitch, while upper tiers give a wider overview of the field and the atmosphere around it.
