Stamford Bridge in 360°A compact ground rewards the right section

Stamford Bridge holds just over 40,000, so almost every seat is close to the pitch. That makes the angle matter more than the distance, and the gap between a corner section and a central one is bigger than the price suggests. Choose a ticket category and look around from a section it covers before you book.

Where to sit at Stamford Bridge

The ground kept its old footprint through every redevelopment, which is why the stands sit so close to the pitch. Four stands run around the pitch, and each one offers something different.

Loudest endMatthew Harding Stand

Behind the goal and traditionally the most vocal part of the ground. Lower tier for atmosphere, upper tier if you want to follow play across the whole pitch.

The old terraceShed End

The opposite goal, built on the site of the standing terrace that gave the stand its name. Part of the stand, across both tiers, is set aside for away supporters.

The two long sides. The central sections give equally good sight of both penalty areas and are usually the first to sell out for a big fixture.

Premium categories include lounge access or food and drink. What is included is stated for each ticket category.

The Shed End and the Matthew Harding Stand sit behind the goals. Away supporters sit in designated sections, in line with the rules of each competition.
Hospitality at Stamford BridgeThe premium categories, without the guesswork

Chelsea's hospitality sits along the West Stand, and what you get varies more than the names suggest. Some categories are a padded seat and a lounge, others include a full meal before kick-off. Each ticket category states which is which.

Food and drink

Catering and lounge access are stated for each ticket category, so you know what the price includes.

The best views

The hospitality sections sit centrally along the side of the pitch, with a clear view of both penalty areas.

Same official allocation

Premium categories come from the same official allocation as the standard seats, with the same confirmation and the same guarantee.

Getting there

Fulham Broadway on the District line sits a short walk from the turnstiles. Convenient before the match and crowded straight after it, so plan the way back before kick-off.

When to arrive

Give yourself time for security. Entry conditions differ by competition and ticket type, and bringing photo ID is the safest habit.

Around the ground

Fulham Road and the streets off it fill with supporters a couple of hours before kick-off, and the pubs closest to the ground reach capacity first.

The fixtures that go first

Chelsea's biggest rivalries sell faster than the rest of the calendar. If one of them is the reason for the trip, book it before the fixtures around it.

The fixture that empties the allocation quickest, and the one where the central sections along the sides sell out first. Tottenham vs Chelsea tickets

About Chelsea

Chelsea Football Club was founded in 1905 and has played at Stamford Bridge from the start. Most English clubs were formed first and found a ground later. Chelsea worked the other way round, created specifically to fill a stadium that had stood in Fulham since 1877 as an athletics venue.

The club joined the Football League shortly after and reached the top division within two seasons, but the trophies came in bursts rather than steadily. The first English league title arrived in 1955, then a long wait, then a run of success in the twenty-first century that turned Chelsea into one of the most recognised names of the Premier League era.

The European breakthrough came in 2012, when the club won the Champions League and joined the small group of English sides to have lifted it. That period was shaped by Frank Lampard, still the club's leading goal scorer, and by Didier Drogba, whose goals decided several of the finals that defined the era. A second Champions League followed in 2021, and in 2025 the club won both the Conference League and the Club World Cup.

Stamford Bridge has been rebuilt in stages around its original footprint, which is why it feels tighter than newer grounds of similar size. It holds just over 40,000 across four stands: Matthew Harding and the Shed End behind the goals, with the East and West Stands along the sidelines.
