Where to sit at the Amex

The American Express Stadium opened in 2011 and is known for its curved roof. The stands along the sides of the pitch have an upper tier, so the choice is mostly about height and angle: close to the pitch, or high enough to see all of it.

Closest to the pitchLower tier

Lower-tier seats put you close to the play and in the middle of the atmosphere.

The wider viewUpper tier

Higher up you see the whole pitch at once, which makes it easier to follow how both teams move.

Central sections along the sides show both penalty areas without turning your head. They tend to sell first for the bigger matches.

Behind the goalThe ends

Behind the goals you see attacks come straight towards you for one half. The North Stand, with its safe standing area, is where the home support is loudest.

Away supporters sit in designated sections, in line with the rules of each competition.

Getting there

Falmer station is next to the stadium, on the line from Brighton. Plan the trip back before kick-off, because the whole crowd heads for the trains at once.

When to arrive

Leave time for security checks. Entry conditions differ by competition and ticket type, and we recommend bringing photo ID.

Before the match

The stadium lies outside the city, so many supporters spend the hours before kick-off in Brighton itself, on the seafront or in the city centre, and take the train out.

The fixtures that disappear first

For a few fixtures every season, demand is far higher than the number of seats at the Amex. These are the ones to book early.

M23 derbyBrighton vs Crystal Palace

Brighton's biggest rivalry, named after the road that links the two clubs, and one of the best-known derbies in the south of England.

High demandVisits from the biggest clubs

Matches against the clubs with the largest national followings draw supporters from well beyond Sussex, and those tickets go faster.

European nightsBrighton in Europe

The club played its first European campaign in 2023–24. When Brighton qualify, tickets for home matches in UEFA competitions are among the hardest to get.

About Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton & Hove Albion was founded in 1901 and spent most of the twentieth century outside the top flight. The best-known moment of those years came in 1983, when the club reached its first FA Cup final and met Manchester United at Wembley.

The years that followed were harder. The club left the Goldstone Ground in 1997 and spent fourteen seasons without a permanent home, first sharing Gillingham's ground and then playing at the Withdean, an athletics stadium in the north of the city.

The American Express Stadium at Falmer opened in 2011 and gave the club a permanent home. Brighton won promotion to the Premier League in 2017, returning to the top flight for the first time since 1983, and in 2023–24 played European football for the first time.
