El Clásico: Real Madrid vs Barcelona

El Clásico is the meeting between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. The name means "the classic", and today it covers every match between the two clubs, in La Liga, the Copa del Rey, the Supercopa and European competition. It is the most watched club fixture in world football, and the most sought-after match of the Spanish season.

The first meeting was played in Madrid in May 1902, and Barcelona won 3–1. Over the following century the fixture became a contest between the capital and Catalonia, and two transfers became part of its story: Alfredo Di Stéfano joined Real Madrid in 1953 after both clubs had claimed him, and Luís Figo moved from Barcelona to Real Madrid in 2000.

From 2009 to 2018 the matches were shaped by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. In 2011 the clubs met four times in 18 days, including a Champions League semi-final. Real Madrid have won the European Cup 15 times, more than any other club, and Barcelona hold the Copa del Rey record with 32 wins.

La Liga plays El Clásico twice a season, once at each ground. Real Madrid host it at the Santiago Bernabéu, rebuilt in 2024 with a retractable roof. Barcelona host it at Spotify Camp Nou, which is reopening in stages while its rebuild continues. Both matches are on this page.

The Santiago Bernabéu in 3DSee El Clásico from your tier at the Bernabéu

The Bernabéu has tall, steep stands, so the same category can feel very different depending on where it sits around the pitch. Open the 3D view and check the angle from the section you are considering.

Where to sit for El Clásico at the Santiago Bernabéu

Seating runs in rings around the pitch, from ground level up to the top tier. For El Clásico the central sections along the sides are usually the first to sell out, so start with the height you want, then choose the side.

Central categories with lounge access as well as food and drink. What is included is stated for each ticket category.

Away supporters sit in designated sections, in line with the rules of each competition. Premium and VIP areas have their own entry rules, stated before you book.
Inside the Santiago BernabéuWatch the stadium before you pick a seat

The Bernabéu came out of a rebuild finished in 2024 as a very different building: a roof that closes over the bowl, a pitch that can be moved below ground level and a screen ring running the full circle of the stands. The film gives you the scale of it before you choose where to sit.

Covered seating

The roof closes over the stands, so a matchday depends far less on the weather than it used to.

Premium categories

Hospitality categories may include lounge access with food, drink and bar service. What is served is stated for each ticket category.

When to arrive

Arrive before kick-off to allow time for entry procedures and security checks at a stadium this size.

Entry conditions

Premium areas can have their own entry conditions. They are stated before you book.

Camp Nou has steep stands, and the view from the first tier is very different from the tiers above it. Open the 3D view and look at the pitch from the section you are considering.
