The Madrid derby: Real Madrid vs Atlético Madrid
The Madrid derby, el derbi madrileño in Spanish, is the meeting between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid. Real Madrid were founded in 1902 and Atlético Madrid in 1903, and the two clubs first met in December 1906, in the regional championship. Real Madrid won 2–1.
The derby has also been played in two Champions League finals. Real Madrid won in Lisbon in 2014, 4–1 after extra time, and in Milan in 2016, on penalties. In the Copa del Rey it is the other way round: the clubs have met in five finals, and Atlético Madrid won four of them, the latest in 2013.
Real Madrid play at the Santiago Bernabéu in Chamartín, their home since 1947, rebuilt in 2024 with a retractable roof. Atlético Madrid have played at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, on the east side of the city, since 2017.
La Liga plays the Madrid derby twice a season, once at each ground. Both matches appear on this page as soon as they are on sale.
The Bernabéu has tall, steep stands, so the same category can feel very different depending on where it sits around the pitch. Open the 3D view and check the angle from the section you are considering.

Seating runs in rings around the pitch, from ground level up to the top tier. For the Madrid derby the central sections along the sides are usually the first to sell out, so start with the height you want, then choose the side.
The two long sides, along the halfway line, with equally good sight of both penalty areas.
The two goal ends, where the noise concentrates and attacking play comes straight at you.
Ground-level seating, the closest you get to the play, with the flattest angle across the pitch.
Central categories with lounge access as well as food and drink. What is included is stated for each ticket category.
The Bernabéu came out of a rebuild finished in 2024 as a very different building: a roof that closes over the bowl, a pitch that can be moved below ground level and a screen ring running the full circle of the stands. The film gives you the scale of it before you choose where to sit.
The roof closes over the stands, so a matchday depends far less on the weather than it used to.
Hospitality categories may include lounge access with food, drink and bar service. What is served is stated for each ticket category.
Arrive before kick-off to allow time for entry procedures and security checks at a stadium this size.
Premium areas can have their own entry conditions. They are stated before you book.

Until then, you can find every Atlético Madrid match that is on sale, at home and away, on Atlético Madrid tickets.
The stands at the Metropolitano are steep and run all the way round the pitch. Open the 3D view, choose a ticket category and see the pitch from a section in that category before you book.

The stands are steep and run all the way round the pitch, so most sections give a clear view. Decide how close to the pitch you want to be, then choose the side. Booking early keeps more sections open to you.
The lower tier puts you close to the pitch. This is where you feel the intensity of the game.
Sections along the halfway line show the whole pitch and both penalty areas without turning your head.
The upper tier gives a full overview of the pitch and the stadium. From here you follow play across the whole pitch.
Hospitality categories add services beyond the seat itself, with central seating. Exactly what is included is stated under each ticket category.
